Dairy products that help you lose weight!!!

Wednesday, October 31 2007

Perhaps one of the largest areas of fat loss research being conducted at the moment centres around calcium and it's role in the absorbtion of fat. More and more evidence is being gathered concerning the role that calcium plays in the rate that your body absorbs fat from your diet.

Researchers have found that by ensuring there is enough calcium in your daily diet, you can actually decrease the amount of fat that your body takes on board. Calcuim ingested seems to bind with fat molecules to form a 'soap' that is excreted rather than stored in your body.

But how can you tell if you are getting enough calcium and what can you do to ensure that you do?

Broccoli and green leafy vegetables, as well as dairy products, are all excellent sources of calcium. Be careful though not to add extra fat to diet by eating veges with rich salad dressing or reaching for high fat items from the dairy isle at the supermarket. Calcium supplements are also available from health food stores and most chemists.

Do you clients a favour and clean your teeth!!!!

Tuesday, October 30 2007

Every now and again I like to have a personal training session myself from someone who doesn't know me or my exercise history. Aside from keeping an eye on any competition, I find it a good way of seeing how other professionals conduct themselves within the industry.

What I like...

If I find something that I like I take it on board and use it in my own training (although it's rare I see anyone who delivers as well as the Chisel Fitness trainers!!!).

What I don't like...

However last week I had a session with a trainer with an unbelievably annoying problem....BAD BREATH!!!

Buying shares in Colgate!

Immediately after the session I rushed home to brush my teeth! I found the trainer's breath really offensive and it got worse throughout the session.

So I decided to do some research to ensure that I didn't become that trainer and offend any of my own clients.

Thanks Pam!

I found some very helpful information from a lady named Pamela Allardice. Pam is one of the hard workers in the health industry having written 24 books, become editor of 'Nature and Health' magazine as well as being a regular contributor to Australian television and radio programmes.

Pam's helpful tips are summarised in this latest article so click here to ensure you don't offend others with your next breath.

Share it...we are in it together!!!

Monday, October 29 2007

I was attending a course over the weekend and one thing that I really took away from the course was the other participants' willingness to share ideas and philosophies.

All too often in the fitness industry I meet people who guard any knowledge they have as if it is a secret that will unlock a key to eternal youth. We are all in the fitness industry together and with the growing global health issues I am pretty sure we as professionals will be in high demand for many years to come.

So don't shy away from sharing your knowledge. Throw it out there and try and learn from anything that might come back your way.
