It's all about the passion!!!
As the title says - "It's all about the passion!"
Two things happened today that reinforced just how true this is.
The uninspiring inspirer
This morning during one of my sessions I witnessed another trainer during one of his sessions.
His client was attempting an exercise and making some incorrect, and potentially dangerous, technical mistakes. All the time whilst this was taking place, the trainer was slouched against a nearby picnic table, picking his nails as he counted to 10.
No enthusiasm, no interest, NO PASSION!!!
Beethoven, Mozart and Simon!
In between training clients and trying to keep myself fit, I am currently helping my fiancé plan our wedding in August.
Today I organised to go and meet the musician who will be playing at our wedding - Simon.
From the moment I met Simon (he shook my hand whilst playing the piano.....and didn't miss a key!!!) I could tell that he loved his job.
Not being massive music lovers (we like it....we just don't know a lot about it), my fiancé and I want Simon to make most of the decisions about music for our big night.
After speaking to Simon, I not only walked away extremely confident that he will do a fantastic job on the night, but I could also see that this wonderfully talented man (go back and read the bit about the handshake again) had developed his skills through his sheer enjoyment and PASSION for what he does.
It makes all the difference!
My point is this.
If you are going to employ someone to provide a service or do a job for you, whether it be personal training, playing the piano, or cleaning the kitchen; finding someone who is passionate about what they are doing is a MUST!
All of the trainers at Chisel Fitness have PASSION!!!
We love our job. We love meeting new people. We love getting you results!
So if you want to lose weight, get fit and stay healthy....give us a call. If you want to shake someone's hand whilst they play the piano.....go see Simon!

Everything is going to be OK!
It's taken until now, but I just thought I would write a quick post to let you all know that everything is going to be OK!
You could be forgiven for thinking otherwise after last Wednesday's State of Origin result.
I too found it hard to get through Thursday, Friday and even the weekend, but after analysing the match with one of my clients Mary (of Mt Warning fame), I think we have it worked out.
Mary and I have picked the game apart, talked tactics and made a few minor selection changes that will ensure a QLD victory in game two of the series.
I can't mention too much here (in case any of those grubby NSW supporters are reading) but like I said above - Everything is going to be OK!!!
Cheers,

How healthy is your cholesterol?
It has been a little while since I wrote the last post but an event that took place on Friday has kicked me back into gear.
As I have mentioned before, we do a lot of training along the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast. Last Friday I had just finished a session at Currumbin when another trainer told me that a 55 year old man had just collapsed after running up one of the nearby hills.
Apparently he was running with a group that included several lifesavers who immediately commenced CPR until the ambulance arrived. Luckily this saved the man's life and he is expected to make a full recovery.
No one saw it coming
I was talking to one of the group members this morning about it, and he commented on how the gentleman who collapsed always appeared relatively healthy. He exercised regularly and wasn't carrying any excess weight.
So what went wrong?
The gentleman who collapsed most probably suffered from a cardiac arrest as a result of a cholesterol build up and/or associated high blood pressure.
And with the plethora of information that gets shoved in our faces regarding our diets these days, I asked Chisel Fitness Nutritionist Amanda van Eyk to put together some simple facts about cholesterol.
So check out Amanda's fact sheet on cholesterol for more information about this important topic.

Sunrise on Mount Warning
As mentioned below, Tuesday was a very early morning for myself and Mary, one of my clients. It started at 2am as we awoke and drove down through Murwillumbah to reach the base of Mount Warning.
It's huge....and we climbed it!
Mount Warning is 1157m above sea level and is the first place on Australia's mainland to be touched by the sun. Mary and I had never been to the top before and as a result of all Mary's hard work we decided that we were both ready.
Mary's milestone
You see, Mary has been training with me for almost 4 months now, and in that time she has lost an impressive 14kg. By committing to regular training sessions and making some slight changes to her nutrition, Mary has seen the weight fall off.
When Mary had achieved 10kg of weight loss we decided to do something to celebrate. An early morning sunrise on Mt Warning sounded like a great idea so off we went.
4.4km later....
To reach the summit we walked 4.4km which included about 1000 steps and some pretty tough scrambling up some rocks, assisted only by a chain.
Our timing was spot on!
No sooner had we prepared our coffee an sandwiches, and the sun began to rise. It was an amazing view as you can see by the photos.
Excellent work Mary
Not only were we able to enjoy the view, but Mary's new found fitness meant that she climbed the mountain with ease. So much so that Mary was ready for some push up's when we reached the top.
In fact, on the way down we were already discussing our next challenge. Kosciuszko, Everest....who knows? I will be sure to keep you posted
Cheers
