Brain Gym!

by Chris on October 15, 2012

Exercising our body to stimulate our brain is a big part of the Lose Your Limits 10 week program that kicks off today.  Don’t know whether we’ll take it this far…but you have to admit, it’s pretty impressive!

Fitness rant – Healthy is too hard?

by Chris on September 25, 2012

Sorry to come at you with another rant but yet another fitness article has stirred me up and I can’t let it go without commenting.

Check out this article on the The truth: Diet and Fitness Secrets of Models.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the quote ‘Models have to eat a certain way all the time and live a very active lifestyle’ a little bit odd?  After all…these are the models that are used to sell a healthy image.  Is this guy really putting forward an argument against the fact that these models have to actually lead a healthy lifestyle?

Eating a certain way and having an active lifestyle is what being a healthy human being is all about.  And I’m not just talking physical health either.  A person’s mental and social health, as well as their physical appearance is of course going to be influenced by the quality of food that they eat and the amount of movement and activity that is part of their lifestyle.  Surprise surprise but humans aren’t actually designed to be sedentary junk food eating machines.

This article and the message behind it pisses me off because it continues to justify lazy behaviours in people and gives more excuses as to why people will never be able to look and feel great.  Why do journalists feel the need to create comfort amongst the readers for their own inability to look and feel great about themselves?

Once again it’s not that hard.  Consistently eat the good stuff and move your body, and over time you will find yourself looking and feeling great! Simple really!

So forget about reading rubbish like this.  It’s actually motivated me to build a program that helps build consistency with exercise and eating and also will help people understand the psychology of being healthy.  Stay tuned…

Rant over!

Cheers,

Gym étiquette: Is it really about looking good?

by Chris on September 24, 2012

I was pretty surprised last week to read this article on Gym Etiquette!

If I was a first time gym user then that article would intimidate me rather than encourage me to go for a workout.

Not only does the journalist list on a couple of occasions the importance of appearance when working out in the gym, but there also seems to be a real emphasis placed on hygiene, as if every time you step into a gym you are at risk of catching something!

So it got me to thinking…how do you view your exercise and work out time?

Is it a chance to dress up, look good and avoid germs, or do you not really make that much of an effort?  I’m interested to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment below.

For the record I reckon it’s all about getting outside and moving your body so that you feel good…end of story!

Cheers,
